You can now preorder the Kandao Qoocam 3 Ultra for $499 (use discount code: MICHAELTY to get a $100 discount off the $599 retail price). The Ultra is a new 360 camera that features 8k video with 10-bit Rec. 2020 HLG) for superior image quality, plus 14k HDR photos in DNG, built-in GPS, a removable lens protector, and other features. I’ve been testing it and here’s a sample video that also describes its key features. You can also download a sample video below.
I’ve been testing the Qoocam 3 for the last several weeks and I’ve been impressed with its image quality and features. Earlier this year, we saw the release of the headline-grabbing Insta360 X4 with 8K video. But Qoocam 3 Ultra seeks to dethrone the X4 with a larger 1/1.7-inch sensor, wide f/1.6 aperture and a higher native resolution 8K video with 10-bit Rec. 2020 HLG for better image quality and color grading.
Ultra is also designed with photographers in mind, with a 14k photos and the ability to take bracketed photos in DNG and merge them into an HDR photo, also in DNG.
Qoocam 3 Ultra also has features including:
- IP68 waterproof
- built-in GPS
- Removable lens protector
- Built-in storage (100GB) in addition to a micro SD slot.
- Timelapse video (0.5 secs min – 8k)
- Loop recording
- Bluetooth external microphone
- 4-channel spatial audio.
Qoocam’s workflow has also improved significantly. Qoocam Studio now has AI tracking, which can reframe the video automatically to track you or any other subject.

Download Qoocam 3 Ultra Sample Video and Sample Photo
I’m still working on my review but in the meantime, you can download this sample video and this sample photo (use Qoocam Studio 2.7 or later to stitch). Stay tuned for my full review – coming in a few days!
Thanks, Mic.
It’s a shame we don’t get like-for-like pricing in Europe. Applying the discount code brings the price down to €573,00, which equates to $621.24. That’s more expensive than the dollar price BEFORE applying the code!
Looking forward to your review all the same 🙂
Best,
Andy
Sounds like a good deal.
But of course, as I did a few early bird deals over the last xx years and learned that it was only a small chance to get a a mature product, I need to wait for deep test and meaningful informations.
But it’s really hard to have to wait for your more specific report 😉
Thanks for the coverage and for the direct download of the video files! This is the a great way to judge the quality. Do you have some photos for direct download as well?
Thanks Daniel. Good point. Let me add that. Here’s the official sample, shot by Francois Blg https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RiNias3gHQMTNqUoyub2ThZ_96j4jWKE
@Mic Ty
the 360 pictures: looks a lot processed. some Textures like “painted” / oversharpend.
is it possible to reduce that effect? (like the sharpness on some insta360-cams when filming)
i would prefer to use Gigapixel AI for that purpose.
thx for providing the footage
