Insta360 is updating the Insta360 One R app and Insta360 Studio with the most requested features, including timeshift for
Here’s a video that shows the new features:
Here are the features:
Jump Cut for One R app: in a recent survey conducted by
360 Transitions: complementing the app’s new capability to split videos, the One R app will also have transitions, especially designed for 360 videos.
Timeshift for Desktop: since Timeshift first debuted on the
Deep Track for Desktop: Deep Track uses AI to track your subjects intelligently, even when they go behind obstacles. This was a key feature for the One R, and is now being added to
Prores support: as mentioned before, they’ve brought back Prores support in

New Shot Lab effects: I’ve already shown some of the updates previously including Clone Trail and Parallel Planet. There are other new effects that will be added including Flash Dash, which is similar to a hyperlapse but adds animated lightning effects behind you.
With all these new features, the One R becomes even more compelling. And for a limited time, they have a special summer sale where you can get the Insta360 One R at 10% discount. Regularly $479, you can get the twin edition for $432 (this includes both a 360 mod and the 4K mod). That’s the best price I’ve seen for the One R since its launch. Would be nice if the features made it to Android.. lots of things on iOS only.
Still waiting on he 3D module (beginning to think it’s vapor wear) and enough with the iOS only preference. Unhappy customer.
When does the new version drop?
Hi groovc. They said sometime July.
you brag about the bit-rate of the desktop app (impressive yes) but you need to add all the features in the app to the desktop studio, so people can do serious editing on a PC without having to buy premiere
I would like for that to happen too.
Hey Mic – Just got a One R to go with my three One Xs. But when I press the shutter button, all I get is the message “Install Insta360 ONE R app and connect camera to activate”. Is the camera seriously telling me that it won’t work standalone, that I have to connect it to a phone for it to take video?
Hey Victor, congrats on the One R. (Wow you have more One X than I do! haha). You can definitely use the One R without a phone (most of the time I don’t use a phone myself). But the first time you use the One R, you have to activate it by connecting it to the app. This is insta360’s security measure to block gray market sales, or stolen inventory.
Best regards,
Mic
