Outcast and Jedi Academy are now playable in VR on Meta Quest, standalone (no PC needed to run it) &#8212; with full motion controls (you can swing your light saber and use force powers).\u00a0 This VR port was made possible by Team Beef.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"JK-XR: Outcast - Jedi Knight II VR - Release Trailer\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ToM-wz3v-NU\" width=\"902\" height=\"505\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" class=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h3>What is Jedi Knight like in VR?<\/h3>\n<p>Team Beef did an incredible job porting these two games to VR.\u00a0 They feel almost like native VR games except during cut scenes where the cuts are a little too fast for VR, and some camera angles are too high or too low.\u00a0 Remarkably, it has 6DOF motion controls with Quest Touch controller: you can swing or throw your lightsaber, aim your blaster, and use Force Push or Force Pull with your Quest Touch.<\/p>\n<p>You can look around in any direction with your Quest.\u00a0 To move around, you use the Quest&#8217;s thumbstick (there&#8217;s no teleporting).\u00a0 It&#8217;s a bit less comfortable than teleporting but on the plus side, this is a game that you can play in a stationary position.<\/p>\n<h3>What you need:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Meta Quest, <a href=\"https:\/\/360rumors.com\/oculus-quest-2-vs-rift-s-oculus-link-wireless-pc-vr-tutorial\/\" data-lasso-id=\"20727\">Meta Quest 2<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/360rumors.com\/quest-3-best-feature\/\" data-lasso-id=\"20728\">Meta Quest 3<\/a><\/li>\n<li>SideQuest (free)<\/li>\n<li>Jedi Outcast and\/or Jedi Academy for PC ($9.99 each or Advanced Installer.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/sidequestvr.com\/setup-howto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"20730\">Instructions here<\/a>.\u00a0 Sidequest is a utility for finding and installing apps on the Quest that are on App Labs or are otherwise not on the Quest app store.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Register for a <a href=\"https:\/\/developer.oculus.com\/manage\/\" data-lasso-id=\"20731\">Meta developer account here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Enable Developer mode on the Quest mobile app.\n<ul>\n<li>tap on Menu on bottom right.<\/li>\n<li>tap on Devices.<\/li>\n<li>tap on your headset.<\/li>\n<li>tap on Headset Settings.\u00a0 (If it is grayed out, wear your headset to take it out of standby mode.)<\/li>\n<li>tap on Developer Mode and then toggle Debug mode.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Install <a href=\"https:\/\/sidequestvr.com\/setup-howto\" data-lasso-id=\"20732\">Sidequest Advanced Installer<\/a> on your PC.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Step 2: Install JK XR app.\u00a0 JK XR app is not Jedi Knight itself.\u00a0 It&#8217;s an app that converts Jedi Knight to VR.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Run Sidequest and connect your Quest to your PC via USB.\u00a0 Sidequest should show a green circle that shows your Quest is connected.\u00a0 Alternatively, if you have Sidequest VR, you can use that instead.<\/li>\n<li>Look for <a href=\"https:\/\/sidequestvr.com\/app\/15472\/jk-xr-jedi-knight-in-vr-meta\" data-lasso-id=\"20733\">JK XR app<\/a> on Sidequest and click on the Sideload button.\u00a0 This will install the JK XR app on your Quest.<\/li>\n<li>Disconnect your Quest.<\/li>\n<li>On your Quest, go to the Apps tab, click on the drop down box (default says &#8220;All&#8221;) and show Unknown Sources.\u00a0 You&#8217;ll see sideloaded apps including the JK XR app.\u00a0 Run the JK XR app.\u00a0 This will create a JKXR folder on your Quest, including the files it needs.\u00a0 After a few seconds, the app will close automatically.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Step 3: Install Jedi Knight.\u00a0 To play Jedi Knight on Quest, you&#8217;ll need the original Jedi Knight Outcast and\/or Jedi Knight Academy.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Download and install <a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/6030\/?snr=1_5_9__205\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"20734\">Jedi Knight Outcast<\/a> and\/or <a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/6020\/?snr=1_5_9__205\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-lasso-id=\"20735\">Jedi Knight Academy<\/a> on your PC.<\/li>\n<li>Copy some of the files from Jedi Knight Outcast and\/or Academy on your PC to your Quest:\n<ul>\n<li>Connect your Quest to your PC via USB.\u00a0 On your Quest, click on notifications, and click the USB notification.\u00a0 Your Quest should now appear on your Windows File Explorer.<\/li>\n<li>Go to the drive where you installed Jedi Knight and copy files to your Quest.\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Outcast<\/span>: Go to the folder \\SteamLibrary\\steamapps\\common\\Jedi Outcast\\Gamedata\\base and copy <strong>all the files ending in .pk3<\/strong> and paste into the Quest directory called JKXR\\<strong>JK2<\/strong>\\base<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Academy<\/span>: Go to the folder XR Companion App, wait for the menu and select Jedi Knight Academy, then click the Launch button.<\/li>\n<li>The title scenes are in 2D, but the game itself is in VR.<\/li>\n<li>To learn the controls, go to Controls and click on JKXR Help then Show Control Defaults.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How do I find more games like this?<\/h2>\n<p>There are other non-VR games that are being converted into VR.\u00a0 These are called &#8220;flat2VR&#8221; games and the mods for converting non-VR games into VR games are called &#8220;VR mods.&#8221; In fact, Jedi Fallen Order is another Star Wars flat2vr game that
