name=\"usability\"><\/a><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Usability<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I&#8217;ve been shooting with the One R since December 2019 and have been quite impressed. The touchscreen makes the One R much easier to use than the One X. I&#8217;m able to change almost all the settings that are in the smartphone app. The OLED touchscreen is also much easier to see in daylight compared to the One X or other 360 cameras with ordinary LCD screens.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The One R app is similar to that of the One X although the keyframing controls have been changed to be slightly faster, although it takes some getting used to. One of the biggest improvements to its workflow is that you can now edit photos and videos without downloading them. This is not only faster, but also ensures that your 360 videos won&#8217;t fill your phone&#8217;s memory. Another key difference is that the One R app&#8217;s object tracking is now AI-assisted and far more robust, and can even track subjects that are partially obstructed. Also new for the One R app is an editor that can import and combine photos and videos not just from the One R but also from your camera&#8217;s gallery &#8212; including your smartphone photos and videos, but also theoretically any other camera from any manufacturer.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>As for the modular aspect, I love the versatility of being able to have a non-360 camera for situations that don&#8217;t require multiple angles or the stabilization of a 360 camera. However, I found that I seldom had the time to reconfigure the One R in the field, especially the 1-inch module, which requires removing the front element to switch modules. I think it would be better if the One R had a non-360 mode like the GoPro MAX, or had a core that could support both a 360 module and the non-360 4K module so that I could quickly switch between the two shooting modes. Alternatively, for prosumers, it may be worth getting two separate bodies &#8211; one with a 360 module and the other with either the 4K module or the 1-inch module. However, the One X had smoother stitching for objects at the stitch line, close to the camera. On the other hand, the One R had slightly better stabilization than that of the One X.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>As for the 4K module, it had comparable quality and stabilization to the GoPro Hero 8 in daylight. The 1-inch module, on the other hand, was incredible. It has exceptional quality that far exceeds that of the Hero 8 or Osmo Action in detail, dynamic range, noise, and color depth. Its stabilization in daylight is similar to that of the Hero 8 and Osmo Action. In low light, both the 4K module and 1-inch module appear to have much better stabilization than the Hero 8, although they also seem to have more noticeable motion blur.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>I&#8217;ve also been most impressed with the One R&#8217;s photo quality. I was surprised that the One R can do a 9-shot HDR in Raw+JPEG with almost no ghosting. I&#8217;ve also been able to use a new feature called Night View, which takes a burst of 9 Raw DNG photos, then uses median stacking to reduce noise. In addition, the 9th shot is underexposed by 4EV and is used to capture highlights. The result is a photo with excellent dynamic range and very low noise. Surprisingly, the photos have shown no visible ghosting even though it combines nine photos.
