Comments on: Oculus Quest review and resource page; comparison with Rift S and Oculus Go (updated November 18, 2019)

Hi Mic,

I’m in the market of buying either a Rift S or a Quest. I would like to make sure though that my headset of choice will be able to play my 360 videos (shot by my Insta360 One X) and most importantly display my 360 photos. Unfortunately, I couldn’t verify that the Oculus Gallery app of the Quest supports 360 photos vieweing. In fact I found at Oculus support forums various posts from some angry users stating that the Oculus 360 app (still currently available for Rift and Rift S) was removed from the app list of the Quest and the only app available for (360) photos vieweing is Oculus Gallery, which doesn’t display all 360 photos correctly!

Could you please verify that Oculus Gallery is usuable for 360 photos, or can you suggest another app (non-official) that can be installed / sideloaded which does?

Witchblood from Go / Gear VR works on Quest sideloaded with 6dof, but needs a bluetooth controller.

Note on the YouTube App. If you have more than one YouTube account under the same Google account (ie when the forced real name thing happened) the link they give you to log in will not let you pick an account. Use the normal https://youtube.com/activate, not https://youtube.com/vractivate. The app kept logging me in under my non-default account!
