Hi Raphi. Do you want to output a reframed video or a 360 video. If you want to output a reframed video, fyi, on insta360 studio you can keyframe the video and directly export as a reframed non-360 video. No need to stitch beforehand.

I use FCPX with my Insta360 One R.
It’s a real pitty though for me to have to stitch the videos before importing them in FCPX, because Insta 360 Studio is super slow (more than 50 hours of rendering for 8h of raw material on a speced out 2019 MacBook Pro!)

Renaming the .insv-files to .mp4 shows that FCPX can theoretically read it, they are just very “weird”, unstitched. I believe all that would be needed would be a “map” for the pixel-cloud to make it directly usable without first having to export it to flat files in Insta360 studio.

Like this, I cannot work, and I am on the verge of selling my 360 camera.

Have to point to Hitfilm – the express version is free (but limited to 4k) – the pro version goes to 8k.
It handles 360 workflow quite well – only drawback in my setup is that exporting feels a bit slow (but probably not worse than Premiere)..

I absolutely love PowerDirector as I have used it for years. I also have the CS library of software because of other work needs but PowerDirector is my goto editor 🙂 However, Cyberlink is now wiggling into the “subscription” based model starting with the latest version. I hope that over time the price does not go up,up, up. They have long been a good (but inexpensive) video editor. I just hope that they don’t jack prices up sky high as their level of respect goes up. As always, thanks for the great posts, tips and tricks!

I love Resolve but it can’t handle 5.7K on my MSI Laptop (i7, 16GB, GTX1060) and crashes almost every 5min, Premiere crashes really rare. Maybe I should try to tweak playback resolution settings?

In reply to Mic Ty. Oh, the "finally" was referred to Premiere alternatives, because most of 360 youtubers use premiere and that's not a viable option (too expensive) for normal/casual users.
